  • Advanced phone system functionality

Cons

  • $30 for a vanity number
  • $30 porting fee

Conclusion

The Bronze package from 800PBX is priced at the market standard and includes an interesting mix of features. Priced at $9.99 you receive 300 minutes per month, which is well above average compared with most packages in the $10 per month price range. Pros

  • Reliable phone service
  • Excellent customer service

Cons

  • $23 effective monthly rate
  • No guarantee of the ability to obtain an 800 or vanity toll free number
  • No phone system features
  • Requires an existing account with a land line and all the associated fees

Conclusion

In order to get a 800, 888, 877 or 866 number through AT&T, you must also have local phone service through AT&T as well. In addition to the cost of the phone line, there is a fee of $23 for the All In One package. The $23 fee is broken out into a service fee of $8/month, and a minimum usage fee of $15/month. (AT&T requires that you pre-pay for $15 of minutes, even if you don’t plan on using that many). Since AT&T charges 5.9¢/minute, then essentially 254 minutes are included with this plan ($15 divided by 5.9¢). Additional minutes are charged at the standard 5.9¢/minute.

Cons

  • Requires a long distance line through Qwest
  • No included minutes
  • 800 numbers are not available
  • $250 onetime charge for vanity numbers
  • No phone system functionality

Conclusion

In order to get a toll free number through Qwest, you must first sign-up for a long distance account. In addition to any monthly fees you pay for your phone line, Qwest charges$5/month for toll free numbers. Calls received on your 800 number are billed on a double-leg system; 7¢/minute long distance charge, plus 10¢/minute toll free usage fee. This means that calls received on your 800 number cost 17¢/minute, and since NO minutes are included with the plan, this can get very expensive. Take note that there are no phone system features available with this feature, such as call forwarding, voicemail, etc. Qwest only has 888, 877 and 866 numbers available in their pool, and they charge a $15 set-up fee for these numbers. 800 numbers are not available through Qwest.
